Flinders University has played an integral part in launching the Surf Sports High Performance Training Academy – a program that will aim to keep South Australia’s top athletes in the state, while bringing them up to world class standard.
“We’ve got incredibly committed and dedicated athletes,” surf sports manager, Mike Schetter told ABC TV News. “But we haven’t, in the past, had the resources to support that, or to keep them here.”
Flinders’ participation, which includes assistance from their Faculty of Education, Humanities and Law, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and the University’s Flinders One Fitness, will ensure a centre of excellence to rival anything in Australia.
The new academy will help South Australian competitors to excel and reach high performance levels.
