Tasmania Uni makes it possible to sponsor a penguin in Antarctica

The University of Tasmania, in partnership with the CSIRO, the Australian Antarctic Division and Norwegian fishing and biotech company Aker BioMarine, are collaborating with the Australian Research Council on a three year project which enables you to “adopt” and track your own penguin as it moves around Antarctica.

While the cost of sponsoring your own penguin is yet to be finalised, all funds will go towards funding research into the vital role that krill plays in marine ecosystems.

The funding program will roll out a special tracking system over online and app platforms, allowing sponsors to keep up to date of the movements and location of ‘their’ tagged penguin as it roams around the icy continent. The cost of sponsoring a penguin is still to be finalised.

Way to keep it clever, Australia.
