The University of Tasmania, in partnership with CSIRO and the Tasmanian and Australian Governments has developed a centralised system known as sense-t to help monitor environmental conditions across Tasmania in real time.
The system, which collects data from government departments, energy and water utilities and businesses around Tasmania, seeks to improve the efficiency of data sharing in the state. The goal is to provide real time environmental data modelling and analysis to help industry, governments and communities to tackle economic, environmental and social issues.
sense-t will also provide Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to enable people to use the data to create apps.
Moving Tasmania into The Cloud? That’s pretty clever, UTAS.
